Syracuse VA Medical Center Hosts OIF/OEF/OND Veterans and Families
For Annual Operation Salute

Event Also Serves as “Summer of Service” Outreach

Syracuse, NY- The Syracuse VA Medical Center hosted more than 120 of our OEF/OIF/OND Veterans and their families (over 500 individuals) at the 16th Annual Syracuse Nationals on Saturday, July 18th at the NYS Fairgrounds.

Operation Salute is an opportunity to say thank you to these Veterans and treat them to a day of family fun and activities.  This is the second year the event has been held at the Syracuse Nationals.  The Nationals is one of the largest car shows in the United States.  This year the event attracted more than 8,000 custom and classic cars for all over the country and around 85,000 spectators over three days.

The event also provided an opportunity for the Medical Center to conduct a three day outreach effort to let thousands of people know what services are available for eligible veterans.  The VA booth at the event was extremely well attended by Veterans, family members and the general public asking questions about eligibility and services.
