Syracuse VA Medical Center to Showcase Veteran Creative Arts

Syracuse, NY-The public is invited to attend the Syracuse VA Medical Center’s Awards Ceremony for the Annual Veterans Creative Arts Competition and Exhibition Thursday, March 5th.  This year’s event will be held in the Auditorium on the ground floor of the Medical Center.

Veteran artists from throughout Central New York have entered their works in categories including music, dance, drama, creative writing, fine arts, applied arts, kit projects, leather goods, wood projects and crafts.  As part of the event, there will be musical performances which will begin at 10:30 am, with the awards presentation beginning at 11:30 pm.
According to VA Lead Recreational Therapist, Suzanne Hawes, “This is a contest where everyone comes out a winner.  It’s an opportunity to display one’s talents, a chance to be recognized and, for many patients, a constructive way to promote the healing process”.

Parking is available in the Medical Center garage.  For further information contact Suzanne Hawes at 315-425-4400-ext. 52589. More information on The National VA Creative Arts programs can be found at
