Syracuse VA Medical Center Celebrates
Vietnam Veteran Commemoration Day

Syracuse, NY-The Syracuse VA Medical Center celebrated the Vietnam Veteran Commemoration and National Vietnam War Veterans Day in style Thursday, March 29th.

The day began with a ceremonial raising of the National colors by a group of Vietnam Veterans from the Baldwinsville VFW Post 153. Following that there was a cake cutting ceremony in the VCS Canteen and the day ended with a Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin presentation to Veterans residing in the Community Living Center.

Vietnam Veteran Jim Scott, who volunteers as a greeter at the National Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., was on hand to present pins to Vietnam Veterans and welcome them home. “I am always so moved to see the look in the eyes of these Veterans when their contributions are recognized, it is often an emotional moment…for both of us,” said Scott.
