Syracuse VA Medical Center
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized two COVID-19 vaccines. VA will have a limited amount of vaccines to start. We've worked with the CDC and other federal partners to develop a phased plan. Our goal is to do the most good for the most people during this time.
Currently, VA is offering COVID-19 vaccine to Veterans already receiving care from the VA, based on CDC and VA risk criteria. If you're eligible to get a vaccine, your VA health care team will contact you.

New - To maximize scheduling COVID-19 vaccinations, Syracuse VA has established a NEW COVID-19 vaccination appointment scheduling call center.
Enrolled Veterans age 65 or older or Veterans age 18 or older with high risk health conditions, can call (315) 425-4488, seven days a week between 8 am and 4 pm daily to schedule a first dose vaccination. The Syracuse VA is offering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to enrolled Veterans already receiving care from the VA, based on CDC and VA risk criteria. If you're eligible to get a vaccine, your VA health care team will contact you.
We are contacting Veterans in all locations in an organized manner in accordance with the collaborative Risk Stratification criteria developed by the Centers for Disease Control and the Veterans Health Agency which incorporates both age and significant health concerns (comorbidities) and informing Veterans that the Syracuse VA system (which includes all of our Community Based Outpatient Clinics) is scheduling vaccination appointments.
We are vaccinating Veterans at four centralized locations in our catchment area. In addition to vaccinations at the Medical Center in Syracuse, we are providing appointments at our Rome CBOC which is on the eastern edge of our coverage area, at our Binghamton CBOC which is our southernmost location and our Watertown CBOC which is one of our two northernmost CBOC’s. The CBOC vaccination locations were chosen because, along with our Medical Center, these sites are where most of our Veterans get their care.
We are offering a mixture of weekday as well as weekend appointments. In addition, we have identified our homebound Veteran population and are executing a plan to vaccinate them as well. No Veteran will be left behind!
